When does Social Run Club Eindhoven meet?

We meet twice a week: Saturday mornings at 10:00 AM at Cyklist (Stratumseind area), and Wednesday evenings at 19:30 (7:30 PM) at De Blob (near Strijp-S). Both runs are 4-6 km with multiple pace groups.

Where do we meet for Saturday runs?

Saturday runs start at Cyklist, located in the Stratumseind area of Eindhoven city center. We meet outside at 10:00 AM and run 4-6 km before finishing back at Cyklist for coffee.

Where do we meet for Wednesday runs?

Wednesday runs start at De Blob, near the Strijp-S area. We meet at 19:30 (7:30 PM) and run approximately 5 km before returning to De Blob for post-run coffee and conversation.

How long are the runs?

Runs are typically 4-6 km and last 30-45 minutes depending on your pace group. We always factor in time for coffee after—usually another 30-60 minutes of socializing.

What if I can't make both days?

No problem! Come to whichever day works for you. Saturday runs tend to be larger and more social, while Wednesday runs are perfect for a midweek pick-me-up.

03Pace & Fitness Level

Do I need to be fast to join?

No! We welcome all paces from complete beginners to experienced marathoners. We have multiple pace groups (6:00/km to 6:45/km+) and no one gets left behind. Walk breaks are totally fine.

Can beginners join?

Absolutely! Social Run Club Eindhoven is perfect for beginners. Our easy pace group runs 4 km at a conversational pace (~6:30-6:45 min/km). Many members started as complete beginners, and we provide a supportive, non-judgmental environment.

What if I need to walk during the run?

Walking is completely fine! We encourage running at a conversational pace, which means if you need walk breaks, take them. Our easy pace group is very accommodating and supportive.

I just finished Couch to 5K. Can I join?

Perfect timing! Our Saturday easy pace group (4 km) is ideal for recent C25K graduates. You'll find a supportive community and pace groups that match your current fitness level.

We typically have: • Fast group: 6 km at ~6:00 min/km • Medium group: 5 km at ~6:15 min/km • Easy group: 4 km at ~6:30-6:45 min/km Pace groups may vary based on attendance and conditions.

04Community & Culture

Is Social Run Club Eindhoven good for expats?

Yes! About 60% of our 200+ members are expats from all over the world. We run in English, and many members joined specifically to make friends in Eindhoven. It's a great way to meet people outside work.

I'm new to Eindhoven and don't know anyone. Is this okay?

This is one of the best reasons to join! Many members came to their first run not knowing anyone. The club is specifically designed to help expats and newcomers build community through running.

What languages do you speak?

Runs are conducted in English, but our community is international. You'll hear Dutch, Spanish, German, French, and many other languages. The common language is English, making it accessible to everyone.

Is it only for expats?

Not at all! We welcome both expats and Dutch locals. About 40% of our members are from Eindhoven or the Netherlands. We love the mix of international and local perspectives.

What's the age range?

Most members are between 25-40 years old, but we have runners of all ages. Everyone is welcome regardless of age—if you want to run and make friends, you'll fit in.

Can I bring a friend?

Absolutely! Friends are always welcome. In fact, many people find it easier to come to their first run with a buddy. Just show up together!

05The Run Experience

What should I bring to my first run?

Just bring: • Running shoes (most important!) • Weather-appropriate clothing • Water bottle (optional) • €3-5 for post-run coffee • A positive attitude

What happens at a typical run?

Arrive 5-10 minutes early, introduce yourself, organizers explain pace groups, choose your group, run together through Eindhoven (30-45 min), then enjoy coffee and conversation (30-60 min). It's relaxed and social.

Do we always get coffee after?

Yes! Post-run coffee is a defining feature of Social Run Club Eindhoven. We carefully select third-wave coffee shops, and the coffee hangout (30-60 minutes) is where most friendships form. It's just as important as the running.

What are the routes like?

Routes vary but are always beginner-friendly with flat terrain. We run through central Eindhoven, Strijp-S, parks, and along canals. Routes are well-lit for evening safety and designed for conversation.

Is it safe to run in the dark (Wednesday evenings)?

Yes! Our Wednesday evening routes are well-lit and run through safe, populated areas. We also run as a group, which adds safety. Many members prefer evening runs for the city atmosphere.

06Special Events

Do you organize special events?

Yes! We host monthly Silent Disco Runs (5 km with wireless headphones and music), occasional longer social runs, and other community events. Follow us on Instagram @social_runclub for announcements.

What is a Silent Disco Run?

A unique running experience where everyone wears wireless headphones and listens to the same upbeat playlist while running through Eindhoven. It creates a "mildly concerning flash mob" atmosphere and ends at RGB Bar on Stratumseind.

Do you do race training?

We're not a competitive training club, but many members use our runs as part of their marathon or half-marathon training. We're social-first, so if you want structured race training, other clubs might be a better fit.
